AI's coming

Work in progress

This new research-creation project explores the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to question artistic practices. By implementing AI-assisted creation, this project aims to produce a set of works that challenge the traditional perception of art and the conceptual foundations of Western art history. This critical work will particularly address contemporary artistic creation practices as collaborative efforts, both among humans and between humans and machines, rather than as the work of a solitary genius.

More broadly, works of art, far from being created ex nihilo, can be seen as emerging as reinterpretations of various sources. In a way, it is this principle that AI uniquely highlights, thereby challenging traditional notions of originality and artistic authority.

By creating a corpus of works through AI, this research aims to break new ground and propose alternatives to traditional art history, in order to question the value and meaning of art in our society. This project does not merely rethink established artistic categories, but also aims to critique and expand our understanding of what art can be in the digital age.
